Who are we and what do we specialise in?

CBM Mortgages is an award winning mortgage brokerage based in Coogee, Sydney, founded by Craig McDonald. We specialise in home loans, refinancing, investment lending, plus construction, renovation and commercial lending, working with a panel of over 40 Australian banks and lenders to find the loan that fits your goals.

How are we different from going directly to a bank?

A bank can only offer its own products. We compare loans across 40+ lenders, provide a personalised assessment before any application is submitted, and negotiate rates on your behalf. Our service is free because the lender pays us, not you, and we accept no referral fees.

How much deposit do I need?

Typically between 5% and 20% of the property value depending on the lender and your situation. We'll walk you through government schemes and lenders mortgage insurance options that can get you into a home sooner.

Can you help with construction or renovation loans?

Yes, this is one of our specialties. Whether you're building new, renovating, or knocking down and rebuilding, construction lending works differently to a standard home loan, with funds released in progress payments as the build advances. We know which lenders handle construction best and we structure the loan around your builder's schedule.

When should I talk to a broker?
